Books by David and Karen Mains

Biography

Dr. David R. Mains has been director of The Chapel Ministries since 1977. For 19 years, his primary ministry voice was "The Chapel of the Air," a nationally syndicated daily radio broadcast, and "You Need to Know," a daily television show named 1995 Program of the Year by the National Religious Broadcasters. His two-minute daily radio feature, "Spiritual Adventure," is broadcast on 70 radio stations across the United States.

Karen Mains is an author, speaker, and radio and television co-host. She is a co-founder of the Chrysostom Society, a group of Christian authors committed to excellence in their writing. She is a prolific author and an articulate communicator whose national prizewinning books address deep spiritual issues. Most of her creative works have been birthed out of personal experience as a pastor's wife and her many active years in radio and television broadcasting with The Chapel of the Air Ministries. Her travels through barrios and refugee camps in Central America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa resulted in her book The Fragile Curtain, which won the 1982 Christopher Award. Karen has been the recipient of many other awards, including three Christian Booksellers' Gold Medallions. Open Heart, Open Home is her first and best-selling classic, which in its numerous printings has sold over five-hundred thousand copies. Her eight-year service on the board of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship culminated in being elected the first woman chairperson of that committee (1993-1995)

David and Karen Mains have made it their life aim to bring tapped-out pastors and tired Christians renewed life in Jesus Christ. One of the practical ways they do this is through their nationwide 50-Day Spiritual Adventure which has involved more than 4.2 million participants since 1980.

Karen and David live in the suburbs of Chicago and have four grown children and four grandchildren.
