Biography
This autobiography by Margery Kempe, a 15th century brewery owner, Christian mystic, and mother of 14, is one of the first written in English. She describes her dramatic conversion through a vision of Christ in her bedroom, and includes her pilgrimages across Europe and to the Holy Land, her trial for heresy, and her mystical life. The book was dictated between 1432 and 1436.
